Data Center Services – Agency Resources

On November 22, 2006, DIR executed the Data Center Services contract with IBM. This contract includes consolidation and ongoing data center and disaster recovery services for 27 state agencies, from March 31, 2007 through August 31, 2014. DIR is the contracting entity for data center services and the primary liaison to the IBM team. Agencies have been deeply involved in the data center services project from its inception and continue to play a critical role in managing their services through data center governance.

The Data Center Services Advisory Council forms one of the key governance bodies. This group of IT Directors from the participating agencies meets monthly to discuss enterprise data center issues. Bowden Hight, Railroad Commission of Texas, chairs the DCS Advisory Council. Tim Jennings, Texas Department of Transportation, serves as Vice-Chair.
