Texas Department of Information Resources Announces Ground-Breaking Contract with HP for Technology and Services
Contract Offers Significant Savings to State Agencies, Local Government and Education
AUSTIN – A newly-signed agreement between the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) and HP offers significant savings to state and local governments and education entities when purchasing HP-branded technology. Included are desktop and notebook PCs, printing systems, imaging products, servers, enterprise storage products, and HP services such as consulting and installation services and seat management for PCs as well as leasing through HP Financial Services.
“This is a ground-breaking contract for DIR customers that use HP products,” said Larry Olson, Chief Technology Officer for the State of Texas. “DIR’s ability to leverage the legislative intent of HB 1516 (79th Regular Legislative Session) in our negotiations with HP allowed us to obtain double-digit savings.”
The contract is divided into three sections -- desktop and notebook PCs; printing and imaging systems and related peripherals and supplies; and servers and storage products and related peripherals -- each offering specific savings.
Additionally, HP offers DIR customers substantial discounts on all related accessories and components including monitors, mice, memory, toner, and cables. Customers can now utilize this contract to purchase several selected third-party products at special pricing.
"HP enables public sector organizations to more efficiently serve the public interest and improve the quality of interactions with their constituents through innovative technology solutions and services," said Deborah Dower, vice president, Public Sector Sales, Technology Solutions Group, HP. "We are pleased to have the continuing confidence of the Texas Department of Information Resources which has worked with HP for nearly 10 years leveraging technology to advance its agency-specific missions."
Texas customers may place their orders directly with HP or one of their 12 named resellers by referencing the DIR contract number and still receive the same discounts. Ten of the 12 named re-sellers are designated as Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB), which allows customers to capture 100% HUB credit. Customers will not pay more for using a reseller.
“By allowing customers to purchase from resellers without any additional cost, DIR expects that designated HUBs will see a significant increase in sales. This is an incredible opportunity for Texas to realize significant savings and to support small, minority- and women-owned businesses,” said Brian Rawson, Director of Service Delivery for DIR.
“This agreement ensures that minority businesses have a shot at providing HP goods and services to DIR customers,” said Roy Mata, Chair of the Texas Association of HUBs.
Out-of-state government customers will also save by utilizing DIR to purchase HP technology and services. DIR offers approved out-of-state customers special pricing. Out-of-state customers interested in utilizing DIR’s contracts are encouraged to contact DIR customer services directly at 1-800-464-1215 to ensure eligibility.
The Department of Information Resources (DIR) is a state agency that promotes a shared vision for Texas where the state maximizes the value of its technology investment by identifying common areas of interest, using technology to advance agency-specific missions, and preserving flexibility to innovate.
