Brian Rawson, Chief Technology Officer for Texas, Announces Three New Leadership Positions at DIR

Three new leadership positions have been added to the Department of Information Resources (DIR) executive management team, according to Brian Rawson, the Chief Technology Officer for the State of Texas. Mr. Rawson said today that Ginger Salone, Cindy Reed, and Casey Hoffman begin their new roles as deputy executive directors in July.

“I am delighted to introduce Ginger, Cindy, and Casey into such critical leadership roles for DIR and the State. While each brings unique experiences and skill sets to the agency, they all bring a proven and impressive track record of success in Texas government,” Mr. Rawson said. “DIR customers can look forward to a leadership team that is passionate about service and completely focused on service delivery, technology sourcing, and innovation.”

Ginger Salone will serve as the Deputy Executive Director for Statewide Technology Service Delivery, and will manage the state telecommunications system, the state data center consolidation, TexasOnline and other e-government and web services. Ms. Salone’s information technology career spans 30 years, beginning as a programming intern while a student at East Texas State University to her current position as Deputy Director of Information Technology for Child Support in the Office of the Attorney General.

For much of her 21 years with the State of Texas, Ms. Salone worked for the Comptroller of Public Accounts. Ginger has also served the state as Chair of the Telecommunications Planning and Oversight Committee, President of the Texas Association for State Systems for Computing and Communications (TASSCC), as a member of the Texas Online Authority and the chair of the Data Center Services Advisory Council. She was the 2002 recipient of the TASSCC Dave England award for service to Texas government.

Cindy Reed will become the Deputy Executive Director for Operations and Statewide Technology Sourcing, and will be responsible for the direction and oversight of technology supply chain management services and internal DIR business services, including finance and administration, human resources, and general services. Cindy is currently serving as the interim director of DIR’s Service Delivery Division, and has over 22 years of diverse state government experience in progressively responsible leadership and executive management positions.

A certified public accountant, Cindy is a recognized authority on contracting and procurement practices. Prior to joining DIR, Cindy served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Building and Procurement Commission, where she was responsible for the leadership and oversight of a multitude of essential state services, including the statewide procurement program. Cindy has also held management positions at the State Auditor’s Office, where she specialized in contracting and procurement issues, and at the Texas Department of Insurance and the Texas Department of Transportation.

Casey Hoffman is to be the new Executive First Assistant to the DIR Executive Director, overseeing a number of areas including strategic partnerships, policy, customer service initiatives, performance and planning, and innovative practices. Mr. Hoffman has a broad management background and legal experience. His public sector experience includes serving as the Executive First Assistant Attorney General and as the Deputy Attorney General for Families and Children from 2004 to 2007. His most recent private sector experience was as the CEO and founder of Supportkids, Inc., where he was a finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur’s award and the winner of the Texas eComm Ten Award. Mr. Hoffman is a former member of the DIR board of directors, appointed by Governor Perry in 2003.
