TPOC 2006 Annual Report
Telecommunications Planning and Oversight Council
November 1, 2006
Rate Information
Through its competitive pricing structure, DIR has
established cost-effective rates for telecommunications services that are lower
than published state industry averages (See Cost
Savings). DIR will continue to review its pricing to ensure that CCTS
and TEX-AN customers receive unparalleled savings and services.

Rate Structure
Across its wide array of telecommunications services, DIR
employs various independent rate-setting methodologies to ensure it provides
cost-effective services to its customers. To continue providing the
cost-effective services its customers have come to expect, DIR recognizes the
need to develop a fully inclusive and standard methodology for establishing
rates for its telecommunications services.
DIR plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the
Telecommunications Division’s rate methodology. This review will evaluate the
operational structure and processes and establish a full accounting of costs
and expenditures for the division. The results of this review will be the
development of a rate-setting methodology and a pricing model for all
telecommunications services that are justifiable and adjustable.
DIR anticipates soliciting the assistance of an outside
vendor to perform this review and to assist DIR in establishing a rate-setting
methodology and pricing model.
