Hardware, Software, and IT Services

The Information Resources Act, Texas Government Code, Section 2054.0565 (b), authorizes political subdivisions, including political subdivisions of other states, to directly contract with DIR and comply with all laws regarding competitive bids.

The following political subdivisions are eligible to purchase from DIR cooperative contracts for hardware, software, and IT services:

  • City and county governments
  • Special districts created by Texas state law (e.g., municipal water districts)
  • Entities owned by or a part of a city or county taxing authority (e.g., public libraries)
  • Assistance organizations

State agencies of other states are eligible to purchase from a contract with DIR under Texas Government Code, Section 2054.0565 (a). Telecommunications

Section 2170.004 of the Texas Government Code gives DIR the authority to support the following local government entities through its telecommunications (TEX-AN) contracts for data services, telecommunications services, and telecom material/cable and wiring supplies:

TEX-AN 2000 customers will be required to certify their eligibility at the time they order goods and services. Goods and services obtained through TEX-AN contractors are only for the benefit of eligible entities and are not for personal use.
