Cooperative Purchasing Program and use of TEX-AN 2000 Contracts

To: Authorized TEX-AN Users

We are pleased to provide Authorized TEX-AN Users with guidance about the use of the TE-XAN 2000 Contracts.

GSC has completed the procurement of the next generation of TEX-AN telecommunications services through a competitive solicitation process authorized by Chapter 2157, of the Texas Government Code.

GSC has procured a large suite of core telecommunications services such as long distance voice, voice and data access, frame relay and ATM backbone transport services. These next generation TEX-AN 2000 services are technologically advanced, competitive priced and available for immediate statewide deployment. All of these core services must be procured through the Telecommunications Services Division (TSD) of GSC.

Additionally, GSC solicited and awarded contracts in numerous related areas, such as local telephone service, calling cards, pagers, wireless (cell phones), equipment purchase and installation, etc .... These requirements type contracts are available to both authorized TEX-AN customers and GSC's cooperative purchasing program participants, under Subchapter D, Chapter 271, of the Local Government Code. Each of these TEX-AN contracts can be directly procured from and utilized without the requirement to conduct any additional procurement process.

The complete list of contract areas available to TEX AN customers is as follows:

  • Local telephone Service; Wireless (cell phones); Pagers; Web hosting and Development; Fire Wall Systems; Equipment Purchase and Installation; Calling Cards; Interpreter Services; and Pay Phone Long Distance.
  • TEX AN 2000 telecommunications core services available through TSD to authorized TEX-AN users under Section 2170.004, Texas Government Code, are as follows:
  • Frame Relay and ATM Backbone Transport Services; Data and Voice Access Services; Long Distance Services, including toll-free 800 and 900 service; and Internet Access.
