DIR Publishes Certified Cybersecurity Training Programs Under HB 3834

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has published a list of cybersecurity training programs for use by state and local government employees, in accordance with House Bill (HB) 3834.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has published a list of cybersecurity training programs for use by state and local government employees, in accordance with House Bill (HB) 3834.

The 86th Legislature passed HB 3834 requiring state and local government employees to annually complete a certified cybersecurity training program. This legislation also requires that vendors providing services to state agencies, under certain conditions, complete cybersecurity training. DIR, in consultation with the Texas Cybersecurity Council, is required to certify at least five cybersecurity training programs as required by this legislation.

In accordance with HB 3834, DIR has published a list of certified cybersecurity training programs, for state and local government employees. DIR will certify additional training programs on a continuing basis.

State and local governments may select a certified training program for state and local employees and elected officials. Annual cybersecurity training must be completed June 14, 2020.
